Recipe for An Amicable Divorce

By | - August 27, 2018

Steve Benmor is a recognized divorce lawyer, family mediator, arbitrator, speaker, writer and educator. Mr. Benmor has worked as lead counsel in many divorce trials, held many leadership positions in the legal community and has been regularly interviewed on television, radio and in newspapers as an expert in Family Law.

After helping hundreds of couples end their marriage – and seeing the damage that high conflict divorce causes families – I decided that I wanted to create a concise guide for people who want to make their divorce as successful as possible.

I have seen way too many spouses refuse to settle any aspect of their divorce until their ex acknowledges their value, position, opinion, rights, etc.  Too many spouses remain entrenched in a belief or expectation of what they should get in their settlement and committed to fighting the fight, thus making their divorce lengthy, draining and as expensive as humanly possible.

So here I go, offering a novel, revolutionary and humourous recipe for a successful divorce.

  • 2 pounds of Letting Go
  • 1 cup Humility
  • 1 gallon of Hope For Your Children
  • 2 scoops of Generosity (carefully concealed)
  • 1 bowl of Self-Reflection, mixed with a generous dash of Guilt
  • 1 small pinch of Acceptance
  • 2 cups of Admitting Being Wrong
  • 3 tsp. pure extract of “I’m Sorry”
  • 2 dozen images of Your Happy Future

For extra flavor, add new friends and new memories. Stir well & remove any specks of anger, vengeance or criticism. Keep warm with a steady flame of renewal. Never serve with a sense of entitlement. Add to the recipe the counting of your blessings and you have a successful divorce.
